Why hire in India when I'm already in Mauritius?
Depth. Mauritius has roughly one million working-age people, so for specialist roles like ML engineers, DevOps, data engineering or niche fintech work, the local pool is thin or empty. India has millions of engineers and specialists across every skill. You get talent you simply cannot find at home, working a near-identical day, without leaving your desk.
Is it actually cheaper than hiring in Mauritius?
Honestly, it depends on the role. For a standard developer, India and Mauritius are roughly comparable on salary. India is not a discount play for common roles. Where India wins is senior and niche talent: a senior ML engineer or DevOps specialist often costs less in India than what you would pay to attract or relocate that person to Mauritius, and frequently that person does not exist locally at all. For common roles you pay about the same and gain instant access plus zero entity setup.
What's the time zone overlap between Mauritius and India?
India is GMT+5:30 and Mauritius is GMT+4, so India is just 1.5 hours ahead. Neither country runs daylight saving, so that gap never changes. Your 9am standup in Port Louis is 10:30am in India. You share almost the entire working day. This is the tightest alignment of any major hiring market, far closer than Europe, the US or even much of the Gulf.
Do I need to set up an Indian entity?
No. That is the whole point. Saileor is the legal employer of record in India. Your team works for you day to day, but they sit on Saileor's Indian payroll. You skip the 3 to 6 month company registration, the capital, the local director requirements and the ongoing Indian compliance overhead.
How do I pay my India team?
You pay Saileor one invoice in USD. We handle the INR conversion, salary disbursement, tax withholding and statutory deposits inside India. No dealing with Indian banks, no managing FX, no chasing payroll. Your finance team sees one predictable monthly payment.
Does the India and Mauritius relationship help here?
It does. The two countries signed the CECPA trade agreement, in force since April 2021, India's first free trade pact with an African nation, and it covers trade in services and movement of people. Add deep cultural ties, with around two thirds of Mauritius tracing its roots to India, and English as the business language in both. The corridor is well worn. Many Mauritius based firms already run India operations. We just make the hiring part clean.

We handle the notice period, full and final settlement, leave encashment, gratuity calculation, PF transfer paperwork and the relieving letter. You approve the exit. We execute it. No legal exposure for your business.
