What is the fastest way to hire employees in India from the Netherlands?

Through an Employer of Record (EOR). Dutch companies can employ full-time staff in India without registering an Indian entity: the EOR is the legal employer in India and runs contracts, payroll and statutory compliance (PF, ESI, PT, TDS, gratuity) while the team works for you day to day. Why hire in India instead of the EU or Eastern Europe?

Depth and price. The classic nearshore pools like Poland, Romania and Portugal have tightened, and senior rates there now approach Western European levels. India has millions of engineers across every specialism, from ML and DevOps to niche fintech work, at a genuine cost difference. Is it actually cheaper than hiring in the Netherlands?

For most tech roles, yes, and the gap is real. A senior engineer in Amsterdam typically costs €90,000 to €120,000 in salary, plus roughly 22 to 28% in employer contributions, holiday allowance and pension: call it €115,000 to €150,000 all-in. A comparable senior hire in India, including our EOR fee, usually lands at a third to a half of that. For junior roles the difference narrows but stays meaningful. What's the time zone overlap between the Netherlands and India?

India is GMT+5:30 and never changes clocks. That puts it 4.5 hours ahead of Amsterdam in winter and 3.5 hours in summer. Your 9:00 standup is 13:30 (winter) or 12:30 (summer) in India, comfortably inside their working day. You share five or more live working hours daily: your entire morning overlaps their afternoon. No US-style split shifts, no late-night calls on either side.

Do I need to set up an Indian entity?

No. That is the whole point. Saileor is the legal employer of record in India. Your team works for you day to day, but they sit on Saileor's Indian payroll. You skip the 3 to 6 month company registration, the capital, the local director requirements and the ongoing Indian compliance overhead.

How do I pay my India team?

Does the India and Netherlands relationship help here?

Can I offer equity or ESOPs to Indian employees?

Yes. We structure ESOPs that are tax-efficient for your team and clean for your cap table. Indian employees pay perquisite tax at exercise and capital gains at sale. We handle vesting schedules, cliff periods and exercise windows so your team gets real upside without messy paperwork.

What happens if I need to let someone go?

India works on notice periods, typically 30 days for junior roles and 60 to 90 days for senior ones, set in the contract upfront. Familiar territory if you're used to Dutch notice periods, but with no preventive dismissal review and no transition payment. We handle the notice period, full and final settlement, leave encashment, gratuity calculation, PF transfer paperwork and the relieving letter. You approve the exit. We execute it. No legal exposure for your BV.

How quickly can someone start?
